Laura Donnelly at the 2019 Tony Awards with Best Actress Nomination

Laura Donnelly’s performance as Caitlin Carney in ‘The Ferryman’ earned her a 2019 Tony nomination for Best Actress.  Donnelly delved into the political, and social implications of the Northern Ireland conflict of the late 20th century via a character whose story was connected to her family’s personal history.

Up for a total of 9 awards at the Tony’s, ‘The Ferryman’ was already a huge success.

Written by Jez Butterworth and directed by Sam Mendes, ‘The Ferryman’ went on to win the 2019 Tony for Best Play.
